HOW KIDCREATE

STARTED

ONCE UPON A TIME,

THERE WAS A KINDERGARTNER WHO WAS FRUSTRATED BY SPELLING, BUT LOVED ART!

AND SO IT BEGAN…

Founder, Lara Olson, started Kidcreate Studio after being discouraged by the limited amount of art exposure her son was receiving at school. His favorite class was art. In art class, he found tremendous joy in the creative process and none of the frustrations he was experiencing in some of his other classes. Lara understood how he felt. She too had gravitated toward art classes as a child. Lara strongly believed in the power of art to teach, inspire and build self-esteem. She also understood that art makes learning fun and a fun learning environment was exactly what her son needed more of!

Lara started a quest for art classes for her son. She searched in vain for an art studio designed just for kids that combined quality art education with a fun kid-friendly environment. Finding nothing that met her requirements, she decided to CREATE it! And KIDCREATE was born!

HOW KIDCREATE

HELPS CHILDREN

It has long been established that children benefit from creating art. Art helps build confidence in children, helps children learn to solve problems, and helps children develop communication skills. But, can art help a child become a better student? That answer is YES! Several studies have shown that art education has a measurable positive impact on academics.

ART & THE ACT

The ACT is one the most important determinants of what college students will attend. A few points could make a difference in a student ending up at a first-choice school or a “back up” school. According to a 2011-2012 study by the West Virginia Department of Education on art participation and education, students with more art credits performed better on the ACT than students with fewer art credits.

ART & BEHAVIOR

A 2010 report compiled by the Missouri Department of Education and the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education found that the more students are involved in art, the less like they are to present disciplinary problems. For example, those involved in art were more likely to go to all classes, not just art classes and ultimately graduate.

ART & ACHIEVEMENT

In the May 2002 USA Today article “Study: Arts education has academic effect,” The Arts Education Partnership asserts that different art forms benefit students in different ways. The visual arts “improve content and organization of writing; promote sophisticated reading skills and interpretation of text, reasoning about scientific images and reading readiness.” Pursuing a combination of art forms including drama, music, and visual arts “helps with reading, verbal and math skills; improves the ability to collaborate and higher-order thinking skills.”

OUTSTANDING CURRICULUM

BUILT ON DEDICATION
We are devoted to making our student’s art experience with Kidcreate the best it can be. Everything we learn about our program’s performance goes into the development of our lesson plans. Kidcreate teachers and owners are dedicated to making sure every student gets the most out of every class.

GROWING LIBRARY
Keeping our students engaged and interested is a high priority at Kidcreate. We have learned that the best way to do that is to challenge our students with new curriculum and subjects. Our constantly growing and improving library of lesson plans not only teaches art and creativity but skills that help our students navigate life challenges like getting good grades.

PROGRAMS BY AGE GROUP
